Stopped by the Powerhouse Arena the other day and saw the EXHIBITION: SANDY: Devastation, Document, Drivea vast visual document of Superstorm Sandy created by photographers of all backgrounds–from career photojournalists to judiciously situated cell phone owners and ardent Instagrammers. (it’s ending today! I’m glad I caught it before it ends.)

And all these photos on the wall are up for grab for a suggested donation of $5 per photo.

I was happy to see lots of photos were taken…

I looked through each one, also hoping to rebuild, renew, renovate… and got one photograph and made a donation. What a great exhibition this was. Hope many people have seen it…

Happy Friday and Happy weekend, everyone! xo Hijiri

100% of Iris Print Sales goes to Japan

Last week, Heartfish Press gathered 50% of all sales from the online shop and I am very happy to announce $225.50 has been raised and donated to the American Red Cross Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami Relief! Thank you so much for your help!!

We are continuing to raise fund by offering this Iris Letterpress Print for $22 and ALL PROCEEDS GO TO JAPAN EARTHQUAKE RELIEF. Until everything will be sold out. I designed and printed this inspired by Japanese wood block print, it went through the press 6 times (usually 2-3 times), the Japanese words you see means “Iris.”

Please help spreading the words! Thank you so much!! xo Hijiri

Good morning :) Hope you had a nice weekend… I went to the bake sale (it’s happening again this Saturday, I donated some letterpress cards and will be there this week!) and the fundraising event to support my friends and my country. It felt really great :)

Came across this awesome poster by Beauchamping and had to share — REMEMBRANCE. All profits donated to disaster relief.

All the cities affected by natural disasters are listed under the “REMEMBRANCE The Coming Together As One” and the graphic is a simple circle (also, Japan’s country flag) — LOVE the concept and simple yet very strong message here.
