DUMBO Arts Festival 2010

Found lots of arts as you can imagine throughout DUMBO Arts Festival last weekend, I loved every second of it everyday!

I think this might be my favorite work — chalk board + chalk line drawing of DUMBO (I think). The old brick building as a background is just perfect.

We happened to walk by when artists were working on this work…

and it was done by the weekend:

That’s a lot of work! Well done :)

Saw lots of artists working on a piece on the street…

and there was lots of live music everywhere, too… (these guys were awesome!)

Found Type: DUMBO Arts Festival 2010

I really enjoyed DUMBO Arts Festival last weekend! It was full of creativity and energy all day all night! I took lots of pictures, I will be shearing them in a few posts…

First up is always my favorite; Found Type!

Big 2629 numbers — making an awareness about recyclables.

I didn’t find this, (I so wish I did!) but it was so cool I had to share. “Everything is Fine” installation:

Found Art: High Line

You can find a few art at the High Line (oh, I love it there), this is a billboard art you see from up there that caught my eye. When I see a billboard, I think of advertising because I was in advertising industry for a long time and that’s what we did — place an ad on the billboard. So I was a bit confused when I first saw this because there was no logo for anything…?!

and then, there was a title and description:

Very interesting… and deep… (I know it’s a bit small, but I hope you can read it)

I just love that you can find art literally everywhere in this city!

Benesse House Museum Outdoor Works and Park

Took me a bit, but this will be my last post from Naoshima. Looking back, I really loved everything and I still have to see the Art House Project and the Naoshima Bath “I heart Yu” so I’m definitely going back there…

Today, I will share some photos I took from the Museum outdoor works and Benesse House Park work — I wanted to spend a little more time! Never enough time.

George Ricky Three Squares Vertical Diagonal , 1972-82:

These were moving by the wind and you can touch them and move them around, too.

Always changing by the weather, by the people… very interesting…

We saw a huge work of Walter De Maria work at the Chichu Art Museum, this seemed like a piece from the work…

These were side by side, right by the private beach. Love the atmosphere and backdrop with the art…

When we got to the Park area, we had a nice lunch and explored a little bit inside of the Park building (wish we had more time) — on the way, we passed this beautiful wall of art, I was so drawn to it. The colors, thousands of mirror-like squares, the patterns… it was really breathtaking. I want a wall like this in my house… someday. :)

George Rickey Peristyle V , 1963-95

Another work from George Rickey and these were moving by the wind as well. Very cool and soothing to look at.

and this has been used to represent Naoshima art in a lot of places so I wanted to see it in person.

Yayoi Kusama Pumpkin , 1994-2005

and here it is! Photos taken by me :)

It’s placed in a little pier itself and it looks so awesome! I don’t know why, but it feels very summer vacation to me… doesn’t it?! :)

I will be back, Naoshima!
