Holiday Market: Kings County General Store

Hello, another week! I hope you had a nice weekend :) It’s thanksgiving weekend this week, time is flying and flying and it is officially a holiday season… are you ready?!

I wanted to let you know, especially if you are in NY, that I will be doing a holiday show at Kings County General Store on Sunday, December 12th. Southpaw is located at 125 Fifth Ave (bet St Johns & Sterling) in Park Slope, Brooklyn, it’s free to enter, music and drinks throughout the day and lots of local designs and arts!

I will be doing a little sample sale there as well. I hope to see you there!

Speaking of holiday market, the new poppytalk handmade launches today — please visit my virtual booth, too!

Cozy Trees

There is a tree in my neighborhood that looks really cozy… because it is wearing a pretty red sweater :) It makes me smile every time I pass by. Sharing these photos so it makes you smile, too :)

It’s been another busy week… I hope you are hanging in there, too… :)

UPDATES: I found another one wearing a yellow sweater right next to this tree!

Do you see them together?

First Day of Spring

Beginning of this week is not so springy with rain and grey sky, but the past few days have been so gorgeous that we went to Prospect park everyday on the weekend just to enjoy the sun and the spring — everyone was thinking exactly the same, the park was packed and everyone was having a blast!

It was 70-something degrees, I was just wearing tee-shirts, but all the trees are still brown with no leaves and it looked weird — I saw little buds coming out, though!

The dog beach was finally open — saw many dogs around and a few were actually swimming and having fun! Made me smile :)

Maia enjoying her first back rubs…

and I found some flowers! Everywhere else was all brown, but these little lives found their way to bloom — so inspiring.

On Sunday, there was an Irish parade on Prospect Park West (I think it’s for belated St. Patrick’s Day ceremony, too) — it was another gorgeous day and their spirit and everyone’s vibe were so nice.

Love these costumes!

Happy Spring to all of you :) xo Hijiri

It’s a White World

All day yesterday, all day last night, it snowed here in NYC… so much! and it was beautiful. I kept looking out the window all day and being amazed by the white/silver world out there…

So I went out and took some photos. In a blizzard. yes. I couldn’t help it :)

The heart-shaped gate:

It’s a white world!

A snow bicycle:

I love the white trees… they are one of the most beautiful things that snow can create…

Even the bus schedule was white yesterday.

I think it was the most snow we’ve ever gotten since we moved here. Yes, still a lot out there, but it’s not the same… (getting not so pretty) I hope you can see some beauty in a white world I saw! Have a great day :)
