Setouchi International Art Festival 2010

Here is another awesome timely event that I was really lucky to be able to see some of — Setouchi International Art Festival 2010. It’s going on until October 31st this year, on the seven islands of the Seto Inland Sea + Takamatsu! (where I grew up!)

I was really excited to see my hometown proudly hosting the art festival, the signs were everywhere in the city, people were so enthusiastic about the whole thing…

Love the view of Seto Inland Sea.

Blue and white, stripes were everywhere — very summery!

I will be posting lots of photos this week from the art festival!

Printed Matter 8

Stopped by Giant Robot to attend Printed Matter 8 opening reception this weekend — the walls were filled with great arts and prints!

These lovely flowers and birds prints were nicely letterpressed.

This piece was letterpressed also. + Foil stamped.

It’s going on until August 4th so if you are in the neighborhood, check it out!

Speaking of August… I will be going away starting this Thursday until August 11th — going to San Francisco and then, to Japan! Few more days to finish up my projects and get ready… wish me luck ;)

Picasso: Themes and Variations

One of the exhibitions I saw at the MoMA last Sunday and thought it was really cool was Picasso’s “Themes and Variations” — it explores Picasso’s creative process through the medium of printmaking. Especially, it was so great to see his linoleum work as I sometimes work with the same medium.

Here is his inspiration:

and his work:

“One series of lithographs shows Picasso progressing, step-by-step, from a realistic depiction of a bull to one that is completely abstracted into schematic lines.” — I loved this!

Obviously, there are many more at the exhibition, I enjoyed it very much.

Oh wow, it is JULY!!! Happy July 1st, everyone!!
