All Diamonds

Found this art on Park Avenue and 52nd Street (I think) in Upper East Side in New York. It caught my eye and I thought it looked like something really gorgeous…

and I was right! This work was entitled “All Diamonds” by James Surls. I only saw this piece because I was crossing town on 52nd street to 3rd Avenue, but apparently, he has several sculpture work on Park Avenue.

Pretty Park Avenue church and buildings:

New York is a big city and I hardly ever go this side of town, but I’d love to check out more of his work. I think it’s unique and stunning.

Huge Blackboard

There is this huge open space for outdoor advertising in one of the buildings in SoHo and what was up last weekend was this huge blackboard and (looks very) random lines… it caught my eye, made me wonder what this is…?

If this changes everyday or next week and becomes something towards some ohhhh or ahhhh things, that would be super cool…

If this was a real blackboard/chalkboard, that would be awesome, too…

(Speaking of which, I’d love to have a chalkboard wall in my house someday.)

Shizuka and Kurt’s Wedding Invitation

Remember, my post about printing my friends’ wedding invitations a while ago? I printed just the texts of the invitations, direction cards, RSVP cards, and my friend, Shizuka was going to do the art… and when I received the final invitation, I was blown away! Came out so great! She did such an awesome job “stenciling” (I think I mentioned silkscreen before, but I was wrong) each art, color by color, one by one, all by her hand…! GREAT JOB, Shizuka! So gorgeous, letterpress gives a very nice quality, too.

She hand wove this Japanese knot thing (I don’t know what it’s called… it has a name, though) called “Mizuhiki”:

I love the gold she used throughout the invitation set and when you see the actual piece, it really has nice and warm yet very sophisticated feel, I am super happy to get to help her with this! and CONGRATULATIONS! :)

Found Art: Meatpacking District

There are lots of street art in the Meatpacking District besides the type I found. They catch my eye every time, but never had a chance to take photos so here they are. It is so New York, I love it!
