Silver or Gold?

Are you more like a silver gal/guy or a gold gal/guy? I think I always liked silver better, but nowadays, I love gold things, too…. well, don’t we all love the metallic shiny things?! :) That is why I printed these cake note cards in silver and gold! They can be used for birthday, any wedding related things, very simple and gorgeous, so happy to announce that they are in my shop now.

I never worked with metallic ink before so this was so cool!

Alphabet Greeting Cards

Good morning! Hope you all had a great weekend. Starting today, I am participating Poppytalk Handmade for “Paper Pops,” a paper goods and affordable art market! When Jan and Earl contacted me and invited me, I was super excited and of course said yes without no hesitation. Please visit Poppytalk Handmade for more great artists and products!

I wanted to start a week by sharing my printing process for my new alphabet greeting cards. I had this idea for a long time, I’m so happy it’s finally printed and available for everyone! More alphabet cards will follow… but here are the first 4. I printed them in a few different sessions, I couldn’t do this in 1 day… (well, maybe…?)

I wanted to incorporate wood type and polymer plate (design from computer) so all the big letters for the cards are printed with vintage wood type blocks and the rest was designed in computer.

Letter T:

This T has lot of texture.

Letter M:

Letter B:

and “Birthday!” underneath.

and then, I realized that I could print wood type and polymer plate at the same time like this. See, I’m always learning. It worked out great!

alphabetcard5

After printing all the letters, apply the 2nd color – the border and the “is for” in the middle. I always design everything in Illustrator first, print it out, use it as a guide.

On Vandercook press:

Lots of adjusting to do, but once that’s done, just print, print, print…..

and here are the final product. I am so happy with the result!

B is for Birthday!

T is for Thank You.

POSSIBILITY

I got to work on this custom print for Nicole that reads “POSSIBILITY” – what a great word.

Setting the wood types.

Nowadays, I first print without ink to see the impression and the position of the letters at the same time. I’m learning little things like this every time. I think this is called “experience” :)

I love the impression even without the ink!

possibility2

I’ve been wanting to incorporate this blind printing… I will soon…

possibility3

Nicole requested green so I mixed pretty green… love how colors blend each other and make a whole new color.

and the final print. It came out great! I hope she would like it…

The Post Card

I also received a postcard for the Proceed and Be Bold film and this is going to be on my inspiration board for sure. I’m pretty sure Amos himself printed this postcard, it is letterpressed very nicely with wood types. Love the stars and the texture as it always gets me. I also love the chipboard, I am actually printing something on chipboard (will share it here soon) and my business card is also printed on chipboard so what not to love about this postcard! Perfect :)
