Renegade Craft Fair 09

This weekend was a Renegade Craft Fair weekend here in Brooklyn and I of course stopped by (I went there on Saturday) and checked out so many cool stuff, shopped (the most fun part!), met some people, hang out with my girl friends… it was so fun! This year, it was on the green area at the McCarren Park, (it was at the McCarren park pool last year) sunny all day, 80 degrees, it was hot and nice.

I could only take some pictures, I wish I could have taken all the products that caught my eye, but there were just way too many…

Albertine Press booth:

I have this awesome “chronology” print from letterpress swap (I’ll post about this very soon!) — it was very nice meeting you in person, Shelley!

I couldn’t actually find some of the shops I was looking forward to seeing… there were so many people, so many booths, I somehow managed to miss those shops, which was kind of a bummer, but overall, I got lots of inspirations and respects, I can’t wait for the next year one already!!

Anthropologie + Hatch Show Print

Anthropologie has a catalog out right now that is so special. For their music-themed issue, they have collaborated with Hatch Show Print (!) and what they have done is really inspiring, I had to take pictures and share some of the pages/elements here. I’m sure all the letters are hand-set and hand printed by Hatch Show Print with their awesome collections of wood types and hand-curved letters and images… simply amazing.

The cover. I love the big bold types that are overlapping at each other. Pretty color combination!

The back. How fun! “resonate” “collaborate” – I’d love to try setting types like that someday… Very nice.

and this arrow… awwww so cool!

Page treatment.

Again, these typesettings are making me go crazy! You see things like this throughout the catalog.

anthoropcatalog5

and who knew wood types and fashion go so well together?

There are a lot more lovely images, types, atomosphere… along with great anthropologie goods in the catalog, if you haven’t already, please check it out.

Happy Friday, everyone! I hope this inspires your day! :)

Quick Found Type

It’s amazing how much we are surrounded by the letters. If you look around, you will see at least one somewhere if not 100s.

I was waiting for my car (cab – we call a “car” in here) yesterday from my studio, looked around my door area, there they were, looking at me…

I like the blind deboss effect on a steel.

“Parker” on a lovely shaped label.

I can use these for my inspiration for sure…. :)

Walls Notebook

Came across this walls notebook by the.: It is a book of lots of empty NYC walls you can draw, paint, tag, graffiti… whatever you want! I love the concept, how simple and awesome! Especially, after finding lots of cool wall arts throughout the city, I am inspired to do my own… at home… :)
