White Friday

This morning, when I was woken up by Maia when she needed to go pee at 5 in the morning (this is everyday now) I saw that it was snowing outside… and then, when I woke up again this morning, everything was WHITE outside! But then, again, it started drizzling so it might melt away soon…

Thank god, I have the big shoes – very sloppy.

Puppies in NYC

I never seen puppies in the pet stores in San Francisco. Maybe one from SPCA in Macy’s window during holidays if there was any puppies (mostly, kittens.) Here in NY, there are a bunch of different kinds of puppies in the pet stores. Especially, in West Village area. This Saturday, not knowing Randy was thinking about getting one for me, I took some pictures of the puppies. They are just so adorable! No wonder almost everyone has a dog in NYC. Oh, I guess our landlord said it’s okay to have a dog in the apartment, too! So dog friendly in this city, I hope Maia will have a blast…

Birdland

We went to Birdland after the dinner and saw John Pizzarelli and Bucky Pizzarelli. Birdland is such a historical jazz place since 1940s and all the legendary guys played here – Charlie Parker (it was inspired after him,) Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bud Powell, Stan Getz, Lester Young, Erroll Garner, and many, many others. I guess the original Birdland was in Upper West Side, but they moved to Midtown, and the place keeps the cool classy atmosphere and it was so great and honored to be in there.

John Pizzarelli and his father Bucky Pizzarelli were so awesome, we enjoyed it very much. Such a good night and such a New York night. I loved it.

Crave on 42nd

For our Valentine’s Day celebration, Randy and I went to Crave on 42nd — a new restaurant in Hell’s Kitchen featuring Dave Martin from Top Chef season one. We watched the show, and of course we wondered how the food tastes like in reality. And so when we found out about this restaurant and they had a Valentine’s day 4 course dinner, we were both like “Let’s do it!”

When we walked in, we saw Dave right away, walking around the floor and then, as we were seated, I realized that there was Lee Anne (also from Top Chef) eating with 3 other ladies. It’s so funny to see them in person, we felt like we knew them by watching the show…

Anyway. The food was SO SO GOOD!!! Everything was good, so much flavors, so perfectly cooked, it was the best meal I had in a long time! We were stuffed, though, by that time we finished the desert, but it was all worth it!

They gave me a box of chocolate and a flower at the end, too. Oh, and when we were leaving, Dave was right there, so I said “Thank you! It was soo good!” and he was putting his hand around his heart and “ohhhh, thank you!!” like it meant a lot to him — he was so sweet.
