SMILE Giveaway :)

Yes, you heard it right. I am giving away this new SMILE letterpress print in yellow that I just printed! “SMILE” is absolutely one of my favorite words and the gray ones got all sold out so I decided to print more… in yellow this time!

It is in 5×7 inches, letterpressed by hand using vintage wood type blocks on 110lb, 100% cotton Lettra Pearl White paper with soy-based yellow ink – means it’s very eco-friendly! Limited to only 60 prints.

Here are some behind-the-scene photos…

Adjusting its placement and the impression.

Wood type all set, yellow ink set, and ready to print.

Hot off the press…

and here is the final product!

((the dachshund is from DAXDACHS in Ginza Tokyo and the little jewelry box is from Suga Jewelry.))

  1. Watching candid moments among strangers and knowing I am somehow caught up in them as well- i.e. watching a proposal at Disneyland, watching a man smile to himself as he purchases flowers for his wife, etc.

  2. thanks for the photos of the process, I have always wondered how this was accomplished. i just love letterpress. your work is brilliant and inspiring. this alone makes me smile… as do lemon drops, lemons, and the warm sunshine of Spring, all of which would go so well with your lovely print. cheers and happy monday!

  3. My niece makes me smile. I saw her for lunch today. She was in her Baby Bjorn her eyes bright. She looked ridiculously cute in her duck hat. When we got to lunch, she sat in her high chair and seemed ready to go and to engage. It was wonderful because she’s so silly even at 14 months. She danced with the music in the restaurant, she made me bob in my chair along with her, an action that had her giggling. Miss Mattie is awesome, with kissable cheeks. She makes me smile.

  4. So many different things make me smile — I think that’s what keeps me pretty happy most of the time. I guess some specific smile-worthy things are: the show How I Met Your Mother, the song “Home” by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, ceramic owls, and making dinner for loved ones.

  5. hearing my 17 year old son burp after eating breakfast before school makes me smile.

and the funny things my 5 year old daughter says out of the blue…today it was “its dark when my eyes are closed.”

  6. I’m a very beginner cook. It makes me smile when my husband, who is vegan, helps me make my favorite comfort foods from childhood, even though they contain meat. It also makes me smile when he awards me with virtual “beans” for using good technique while I cook! :)

  7. And now for my official entry: A perfectly exposed, sweet, and unplanned moment captured on my camera makes me smile. I get such a thrill out of reliving a wedding or photo session while culling through the images I have taken. It really is the best job in the world!

  8. Everything makes me smile… well, not everything, but I’m truly one of those people you catch smiling and wondering to yourself what sort of mischief I’m up to.

And one of these SMILE prints next to my smile mirror would be poifect. Crossing fingers here!

  9. My boyfriend and I said “i love you” to each other for the first time last week. I’ve been smiling inside and out ever since.

  10. My husband. He makes me happier and happier every day. And my amazing nephew. He’s just an incredible kid. Love him.
