Red Oak Press

I came across these beautifully letterpressed cards printed by Red Oak Press. I am a big fan of letterpress and especially, when it’s pressed hard and makes such cool impressions on the paper, oh, I love that. (Some letterpress printed things are not pressed hard enough…)

These graphics are so pretty, too.

They are available at their etsy store as well as their online store.

Leanne Shapton

My Friday morning inspiration is from a great artist, art director, illustrator, designer and publisher, Leanne Shapton. I especially like her wooden books work and lettering and design work – very artistic, organic yet very well designed!

LAMA Launches!

I am so happy to announce that LAMA shopping site officially launched today! I posted about LAMA logo design before and we have been working so hard for this day ever since. We had to go through major crisis and pull some late nights, but I am so happy how it came out! Christine, the owner of LAMA has been great to work with and it’s been very inspiring to see the process of opening an online store from the beginning and how she has been achieving her dream to bring Latin America in her own way like this.

And special thank you to Randy, of course, for all his hard work! This wouldn’t happen without him!!

Paul Rand

I came across this awesome tribute film on Paul Rand this morning. He is a legendary graphic designer who did IBM logo, UPS logo, ABC logo to name a very few and all his work is so incredibly inspiring. I’ve watched his interviews as well (1 2 3)  and wow, he is just so awesome. When I work on logos, I would have at least 3-5 ideas and options (usually more!) but he only showed one because he thinks that’s it, that works, why would show more if that is the one. And that’s how he came up with IBM, UPS, and ABC logos that have been used for many many years and have such recognitions to the world! Amazing.

Here are some of the screenshots from the film:
