Subway Art: 77th Street Station

Haven’t done a Subway Art post in a while… but I found a new one at 77th Street station in Upper East Side (number 6 line). This is towards Downtown/Brooklyn platform. The wall was filled with pretty mosaic flowers as you can see.

Today’s Subway Art is coming from 50th Street station (red line 1) — I think it’s the cutest one yet! Alice in Wonderland station :)

This Subway Art is from Christopher St. station (1) in West Village. It is so very unique and very interesting.

and it comes with titles and descriptions just like museum. Pretty awesome.

Subway Art: Marcy Avenue Station

This Subway Art is from Marcy Avenue Station (J, M, Z) in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I love that when you get out of the train, the art is waiting for you to greet. This station is above the ground so the stained glass reflects the lights well and makes it pretty.

Subway art from 59th Street / Columbus Circle station. Colorful and bold graphic covers the whole wall, it caught my eye.

Subway Art: 42nd St. (Orange Line)

These are taken at 42nd St. station (B, D, F, Q — Orange line). I finally took some pictures. I love the color and the tiling work — they are so beautiful. I would love to make some prints or patterns inspired by these images…

This whole station is covered by this theme, I always enjoy walking around!

Subway Art: 34th Street / Penn Station

These awesome mosaic walls are coming from 34th Street station / Penn Station (A, C, E line) — very dramatic!

((so sorry for the blurry pictures, my camera was in different mode and it came out all out of focus a bit… oops.))

Yellow/gold wall with wild animals…

but these bears look like they are a couple and the girl bear is wearing a dress!

The other side of the wall — lots of different scenes… so moody and theatrical…

The crown’s expression and all the details are so great. I could have spent more time just looking at the walls here!

This Subway Art comes from Boston, MA: Park Street Station — The first subway station in America!

I’m sure this art is a lot newer than 1897, but it was taking over the platform and it was fun to look at for sure while waiting for the train.

Happy Monday, everyone. Hope you had a great weekend… I have been looking for the perfect apartment all week and weekend, still haven’t found it yet… I’m going to keep looking until we find it…

Anyway. Last weekend, on July 4th, I got to go to Coney Island for the first time and from the moment I got off the subway station, I knew I loved it here. The Stillwell Avenue Station was filled with these funky art… on the glass wall.

Such a fun area, I loved it!! Found lots of awesome types there, too…

Subway Art: 14th Street Station (A, C, E)

There are a few 14th Street Stations in NYC, but this is from the A, C, E line station. I’ve mentioned Tom Otterness’s work before and here are some of his work at the subway stations entitled “Life Underground.”
